Glyph Magic featured in Blood Omen 2. Umah described it as "a new kind of magic - deadly to [vampire] kind."[1]

The Sarafan Lord used Glyph magic against Kain's army, when the Sarafan fought the vampires outside of Meridian. With it, he was able to destroy Kain's army and kill most of the vampires. Blood Omen 2's dream-sequence FMV (Full Motion Video) showed the Sarafan Lord using lightning-like Glyph magic to devastating effect.[1]

In the years since Kain's defeat, the Sarafan had utilised Glyph magic to find and kill as many vampires as possible. Many Sarafan had their armour infused with Glyph magic. It glowed whenever a vampire was nearby, protecting them against stealth attacks. These men were called Glyph Guards or Glyph Knights.[2,3]

A Glyph Guard notably activated the Ward Gate that separated Kain from Umah in the Slums. Kain first encountered a Glyph Knight on the roof of the Sarafan Keep; they were most difficult type of Sarafan warrior to fight and kill.
