Raziel was the first-born of Kain's lieutenants and his second-in-command. When Raziel grew wings, surpassing Kain's own evolution, Kain had him executed. However, Raziel survived the Abyss and returned for vengeance as a devourer of souls.

Kain ruled Nosgoth; his throne was at the base of the eternally corrupted Pillar of Balance. When Raziel presented his newly-grown wings to Kain, Kain ordered Raziel's execution, apparently because of jealousy.

Raziel wasn't destroyed by the Abyss, and the Elder God was the being who claimed to have spared him from total dissolution. It instructed Raziel, introducing him to his new role as an "Angel of Death", the Elder's assassin of the vampires.

When Raziel returned to the Pillars as a Reaver of Souls, intent on killing Kain, Ariel offered her wisdom to him. She gave him enigmatic clues to help him find Kain and his mutated vampire brethren.

Melchiah was the least powerful of Kain's vampire lieutenants. He was the last of the six to be raised by Kain, so he received the weakest portion of Kain's gift. Although Melchiah was immortal, "his soul could not sustain the flesh".

Zephon's evolution made him the largest of Kain's vampire lieutenants. He towered over Raziel, and he had very long, thin limbs. He was clearly an insect-creature (as he said himself), but he was less spider-like than his descendants.

Rahab was one of Kain's six vampire lieutenants. Since Raziel's execution, the Rahabim lord had turned into a large shark-like creature. He was largely confined to the water, but in the water, he had no equal.

Dumah was one of Kain's six vampire lieutenants. He was present at the meeting where Raziel revealed his newly-grown wings. When Kain ordered Raziel's execution, it was Dumah (along with Turel) who carried him to the Abyss and threw him in.

Turel was Kain's second-born vampire 'son'. He and Dumah carried Raziel to the Abyss and threw him in on Kain's command.

Morlock was an adult member of the Turelim clan, charged with guarding part of the Tomb of the Sarafan. After Morlock had been destroyed, Raziel claimed an artefact that granted him the Telekinetic Force Projectile ability.
